A renewed classical defense game

First at all, Glu’s Defenders and Dragons won’t strictly look like a defense game at first. It’s more like a sidescrolling beat’em-up, but as you raise your level and get access to new allies and power-ups, it’ll be clear it’s even more than a defense game, it’s like those first defense games before there was need to put ‘towers’ in it. Your hero starts at the leftmost of the screen and has to fend off the incoming waves of enemies to protect the typical blue magical crystal.

Controls are as easy as go forward or backward and tap on the on-screen buttons to summon minions, invoke scree-wiping lighting bolts or any other power-up. In order to attack, both hand-to-hand or with projectile weapons, just stand still.

Design is great, somehow a non-Eastern cartoonized Dungeons and Dragons. Animations are quite poor, but they work. This game can be played for free, but eventually you’ll feel the urge to dramatically upgrade your character or get any of the two premium ones (one of them, the Archangel, as expensive as $70)

While you ponder whether to visit the premium back room of the in-app shop, there are many allies and stuff to unlock. Recommended, though openly more oriented to casual players rather than tough gamers, who will dislike its lack of strategy and gameplay depth.

Lastly, there’s an online versus option to fight off other players, ruled by a sort of energy system. You may or may not like it, but it’s appreciated.
