Frontline Commando sequel set in WWII
FL Commando: D-Day is as impressive as the original Frontline Commando, but by far more scened. Since the black and white footage to the radio voice overs and speeches, from the Stukas overflying your anti-aircraft position to those Panzers roaring in the distance, everything is beautifully presented. Perhaps too beautiful, because even when there’re blood and booms and ra-ta-tas everywhere, hardcore gamers would have liked more dirt and guts, but that’s a matter of taste, and the more casual players will enjoy the overall cleanness. Indeed, gameplay is intense and thrilling (these sandbags won’t last forever, dude!) but not over-dramatic. It may be The Landing, but it has to be pleasant and enjoyable.
As usual, game’s free, though you eventually might need some in-app purchases to keep your pace. The game can take a while to load, but less than it’d be expected when looking at the specs. Regrettably, there aren’t either stalking, non-combat missions; or German POV defense ones: that would be icing on the cake, a cake already filled with your favorite jam. In exchange, there are 5 complete campaigns (sure you know the names: Utah, Juno, Omaha…)
Great job, Glu. Now, may we ask for an update with missions somewhere else, or will there be a sequel in ‘Nam?
