Along the way, you’ll encounter elemental portals that you must pass through: Fire, Water, and Nature.
You play as a stone bound with the soul of these three elements, and your ability to change forms is key to progressing. To pass through a portal, you must switch to the corresponding elemental form. For example, Nature is represented by green, and you must take on the green form to pass through a Nature portal. Likewise, Water is represented by blue, and you need to switch to the blue form to pass through a Water portal.
As you ascend, various power-ups will aid your journey. You’ll encounter the Coin, which, unsurprisingly, grants you coins that are tallied at the end of your run. The Shield protects you from failing to match the correct portal form, giving you a second chance to keep climbing. The Boost changes the pace of the game dramatically—when activated, you’ll need to collect souls to fuel your energy, propelling you upward at incredible speeds. This is a fantastic way to cover large distances quickly!
In addition to these exciting power-ups, Soulbound Ascent offers an upgrade system that allows you to improve your power-ups using the coins you collect during your runs. Upgrade the Coin power-up to earn more coins from each pickup, increase the Shield’s protection to help you survive more mistakes, or enhance the Boost to gain extra fuel for even longer boosts.
